Pelican™ Cases - Which is right for your application?PelicanLogo

All Pelican™ Cases are dustproof and crushproof, and can be specified as breathable or watertight. Sizes can accommodate equipment from small electronics to massive fuel pods. There are three distinct lines of cases available: Pelican, Pelican Storm and Pelican-Hardigg. And each has its own set of features.

For starters, the Pelican and Pelican Storm are injection-molded cases. Hot material is injected into a mold and cooled to form the part. See the Pelican case size calculator. The Hardigg Cases are roto-molded. Resin powder is loaded into a mold attached to a biaxial arm. As the mold rotates, it s heated and 15 to 20 percent more resin accumulates in the corners and edges of the mold. When the case is dropped (and it will be), it has extra strength where needed. Each case has its own set of features. To help you find the one that’s best for you, read on:

Anatomy of a Pelican™ Case

STRONGER BY DESIGN
Pelican™ cases are made with a proprietary combination of homo-polymers and co-polymers, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter than a solid core wall. Stainless steel pins are used in hinges and handles.

A WATERTIGHTPelican Case Features
The secret is the tongue and groove fit with a polymer o-ring acting as a waterproof seal.

B EASY ROLLER
Stainless steel ball bearing wheels last longer and ride smoother. The nylon hub adjacent to the stainless steel is made to resist heat. The result is less wear and tear on the polyurethane wheel.

C REINFORCED PADLOCK PROTECTORS
Stainless steel reinforced padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft.

D DOUBLE-THROW LATCHES
The Double-Throw latches are smarter and easier to open: it's the classic "C" clamp design with a secondary movement that works like a pry bar to start the release and offers plenty of leverage to open with a light pull.

E FOAM
All Pelican™ cases can be customized with foam inserts to protect their contents.

F NAMEPLATE
Custom engraved nameplates are available for a nominal fee.

G COOL UNDER PRESSURE
The Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve releases built-up air pressure while keeping water molecules out, resulting in a watertight case that is even easier to open.

A RESILIENT HPX™
High impact shell.

B PRESS & PULL LATCHESPelican Storm Features
Unique Press & Pull Latches open with the push of a button, yet stay closed securely under impact or stress.

C RUGGED IN-LINE WHEELS
Ball bearing wheels provide low-friction, low drag rolling for easy movement of heavy loads. Available on select models.

D DOUBLE-LAYERED, SOFT-GRIP HANDLES
Tested and proven strong, these comfort grips withstand heavy loads.

E MOLDED IN HASPS
Unbreakable molded-in hasps, allow you to add standard size padlocks, offering another measure of security.

F ROUNDED DEFLECTIVE CORNERS
The corners of a Pelican™ Storm Case™ deflect and absorb impact, dispensing kinetic energy throughout the case to ensure contents remain safe drop after drop.

G VORTEX™ VALVE
Permanently attached Vortex™ valve automatically adjusts air pressure without letting in water, and won't unscrew from the case

Pelican-Hardigg™ Single Lid Cases

In the beginning, a wooden crate fell apart. And then a corrugated box got wet. To make things worse, overweight metal cases showed up with sheared off handles. That's when Pelican-Hardigg Cases arrived, manufactured from polyethylene. Durable and waterproof, with recessed handles and integrated stacking ribs.

Why Rotational Molding?
The advantages of rotational mold manufacturing are significant. Following are a few prime reasons:

A MOLDED-IN STACKING RIBS
Secure Non-Slip Stacking on Matched Size Cases Pelican Hardigg Features

B COMFORT GRIP HANDLES
A Pelican-Hardigg Patented Feature, Heavy-Duty, Spring Loaded to Lay Flat

C PATENTED MOLDED-IN METAL INSERTS
Catch and Hinge Attachment Points, Designed to Distribute Load to Case Walls

D RECESSED HARDWARE
Hardware Protected from Impact, Snag Free Transport

E DOUBLE WALLED RIM FOR TONGUE-IN-GROOVE SEAL
Remains Sealed After Impact, Splash and Rain Resistant, Air and Watertight Options

F POSITIVE ANTI-SHEAR LOCKS
Prevent Lid Separation Upon Impact, Minimize Hardware Stress

G REINFORCED CORNERS AND EDGES
15% to 20% Thicker Corners and Edges for Added Impact Protection

Bells and whistles. With accessories and custom services available, a Pelican-Hardigg Case can be a lot more than a box.

Selecting case hardware- it's all about you.
Getting your equipment safely from point A to point B is paramount. To move your case around you might need wheels, or if the load is extreme we can install forklift spacers and a bash-plate. We can also help you with technical choices, such as standard or mil-spec purge valves (prevents vacuum lock in the event of altitude change). The list goes on: from handles and latches to desiccant chambers for removing humidity from the case.
